Tech Focus - Battery and Charger Maintenance

Sunday 6th November 2022

Did you know that dirty contacts on chargers and batteries can impact the battery's performance?

If the contacts are dirty, a full charge may not occur either during recalibration or when in normal use. This may cause the battery to show an "end of service life" indication prematurely, even if the battery is new. 'Impres 2' chargers will reset this indication if a successful calibration cycle completes with clean contacts. A recalibration cycle can be forced by removing and inserting the battery within a few seconds.

Dirty contacts may also affect the amount of charge the battery receives. This means the battery charger could show the battery as fully charged, even though it is not.

Make sure that both the battery contacts and the charger spring contacts are clean of any deposits.
